Ferndale Rhondda League Team opened thier season with a  1-1 draw away to Porth A.F.C. In a game played in very warm conditions the first half was of poor qualiyt with both sides probing for weaknesses .Porth took the lead with a deflected own goal off Gareth Smith. Ferndale stepped up pressure in the second half and this resulted in several chances one of which was put away by Tyrone Jones. Fitness levels need to improve if we are to mount a serious challenge this year. Several new players should be available shortly and competition for places should benefit the team.
