Match news week of 24th May 2007 - Greens

The Green team played at home on Thursday 24th May 2007 Vs Newport. This was a return match against one of the teams beaten earlier in the season and turned out to be a most enjoyable game of football.

Newport lined out in their away kit of all black to avoid clashing.

The match was a hard fought game with play ebbing and flowing all through the first half. Both teams played excellent football which was thoroughly enjoyed all through by the large groups of parents/supporters.

The teams were all square at half time 1-1, with Mungret equalising before half-time through Nicole, having gone a goal down early in the half.

During the 2nd half, Mugret played with great skill and some passages of elegant football but were unlucky to concede 2 early goals making the game hard to chase.

Despite long periods of home team pressure, the game finished  Mungret 1 - Newport 4. The team deserve great credit for not letting their heads drop and pushing all the way to the final whistle, in what was one of the best, most competitive games of our season so far.

Despite the setback of the loss, the team head into their last 2 games with just that 1 loss recorded so far ....... intent on keeping up the good work.
