A Goal Up, But We Let It Slip

Prince went into this mornings game missing two key players in Will and Jamesy and these two players could have, and would have changed this result.

The team started well and some good play from Brooksy and Simon led to Phil taking the ball past the central defender and drilling a low effort into the far corner of the net. This got morale going and some neat play resulted in some nearly efforts.

Hithercroft levelled the match after the referee awarded the visitors a dubliant penalty was given for handball. This was a ridiculous decision and protests from the defence were hushed away by the Referee. The resulting spot-kick was scored and this lifted the opponents spirits.

Half time came and after some positive talk Prince looked bright in the early stages, but within minutes were 2-1 down. A corner from the left side was headed in to the net after some shocking clearance attempts.

This was a bit of a kick for the boys and after a great cross from Brooksy, Simon's extravagant overhead kick was saved, it fell straight to Phil who placed the ball into the corner of the net. Prince then had opportunities to kill the game off, when two efforts from Simon were saved, and Phil's hat-trick was denied with a goal line clearance.

It was these saves which cost the Prince, when another corner was headed, or shouldered into the back of the net. hithercroft could have had another couple if it hadn't of been for some brave goalkeeping from Ricky.

Prince will look back on this game and look at missed opportunities,a nd look forward to the return of some key players.
