    glenmuir are champions

glenmuir utd are the new MDL champions for 2008 after a final day win v local rivals rock celtic.

in front of a huge crowd in glenmuir park the sandy lane outfit started brighter as the home side looked nervous and had chances for both breen and mc keown but neither were taken and after the 20 minute mark the dundalk side started to take control in midfield.

and so in the 26th minute a centre from alan brown was dispatched to the top cornor buy killboy.

and before the game had calmed down glenmuir made it 2 in the 31st minute when top scorer anto reilly looped a header over the stranded lennon.

and with this cushion glenmuir took control to see out the first half with a two goal lead.

the second half was played at a slower pace as the heat took its toll on the players and rock celtic went route one up to the 6'4 mc keown but the glenmuir defence marsheled by sheehy were a match for everything that was thrown at them.

as the game went into the last 30 minutes the speedy grier and smart came on to add pace against the tired looking rock defence and could have added a third at any stage.

then in the final minutes captain lawless came on to add some power as the hoeys lane outfit seen out the match to claim the tiitle for the first time.
