The Under 15 Girls Team
The Marathon Ground
The under 15 girls team used to play in the South-East London & Kent League who run three competitions the Selkent League the Selkent Challenge Cup and the Selkent Shield.
The team formed in 2002, started out as a mini-soccer team Phoenix Sports. The team changed its name to Marathon Red at the start of the 2003 season and played thier home games and trained at the Marathon Ground. In June 2005 we moved to Bexley Park and Parkwood Rangers FC to start playing 11 aside football, as the Marathon Ground has no 11 a-side facilities. The team is based in Kent , around the Dartford/Bexley area.

The League is run, gaining 2 points for a win and 1 point for a draw. Teams play each other home and away. The Challenge Cup is a knockout competition which has the winning team progressing to the next round and a final at the end of the season The shield is run on a champions league format, with teams playing a league round and then a knockout stage and a finals day at the end of the season.
The girls also participate in local tournaments run by other football clubs.The squad also gets the opportunity to go on a end of season tour. in 2005 the team went on a tour of Norfolk and 2006 they went to the south coast.For the 2006/7 season the team went on an 11 a-side tour to Norfolk to play in the Mitre Ultimatch Cup, and won a tough match against Norwich City in the Final to win the Cup.
The Deputy Mayor: Colin Tandy
The team was awarded a Sports Endeavour Award at the Bexley Boroughs Young Sports Persons Sports Awards 2007. Six members of the team represented the squad and were presented the award by Sporting Champion Julie Fletcher.The squad members were introduced to the Deputy Mayor of Bexley Councillor Colin Tandy and His Wife the DeputyMayoress. Sport England also presented our squad with Sport England Caps .

In 2007 the team won the Selkent League Championship,and moved up to the Kent Ladies & Girls League for the 2007/8 season The team completed the double by winning the Selkent Shield.and narrowly missing out on the treble losing inthe final of the Selkent Cup. The team had a suprise visit from Hope Powell the England Ladies Manager who made time out of her busy schedule to meet the players and presented the Players Player and Managers Player at our annual presentation night.
