A disappointing result on Saturday, but not a total disaster.
There will NOT be any training on Monday night, but I will be holding training after school on Tues and Thurs nights at Heath Park from 4 til 5:30, for those that can make it.
We'll set-up on the Memorial / Monument pitch.
THESE WILL NOT BE MUCK-ABOUT SESSIONS.
If you are not serious about eradicating and/or solving our problems before next weekend DO NOT COME!!!!!!

Celts 2 - 5 Danescourt
After a closely fought 1st half, Celts handed the initiative to Danescourt by gifting their opponents 2 goals early in the second-half. Goals from Barni Gubb and Liam Beckett were scant consolation for Celts, as they looked for their first points of 2008.
Celts are still trying to play good football, and with a bit of luck could have scored 5 themselves; however, that would have masked some recurring problems. Excuses could be directed at the "paddock" of a pitch; but in truth lack of communication throughout the side is becoming a real problem. Couple that with a refusal to shoot from outside the 6 yard box and you have to wonder where the next points will come from!

There are now 3 teams on 15 points - 1 point behind Celts on 16 points. Next week's game against Danescourt is crucial: lose and we could be sucked into the relegation fight; win and we'll probably join Rumney in 6th place!
The Celts Coaching Staff are expecting the Celts Playing Staff to have the desire and self-discipline to be ready for the game.

Latest results for Sat 2nd Feb are all favourable:
Paul amassed the huge total of 362pts in January - a full 30 pts ahead of 2nd placed Layth Saadi.
A prize will be winging its way to you soon Paul. Very well done!

The fixtures for February have been released. With half of the Celts squad away for ski-ing, we have only one match this month, against Danescourt on 23rd February.
27 Jan, 2008 CELTS LACK DESIRE
Celts were thrashed 7-4 by lowly Pentyrch at Parc-y-Dwrlyn. In a howling gale Celts captain Rhodri Parry lost the toss, which meant that Celts were forced to play into wind on this cramped pitch. The headwind didn't appear to trouble Celts as they scored 2 goals in 5 minutes from Barni Gubb and Liam Beckett; however, the euphoria didn't last long as Pentyrch fought back and surged into a 5-2 lead at half-time.
No matter, Celts would score a hatful with that gale at their backs. After the turnround, Ben Roach's trademark headed goal was followed by Barni Gubb's second, and at 5-4 down a Celts win looked probable; but the script was written differently:-
1. Somehow, Pentyrch defied the elements to pin Celts into their own half for lengthy periods!
2. Apart from the 2 close-range goals, the Pentyrch keeper didn't have a shot to save in the 2nd-half.
Uncharacteristically, this was a poor effort from Celts. Too many players lacked the spark that was needed in the difficult conditions. Let's hope that February is a better month (and not just the ski-ing!)
