The team is announced for tomorrows game against Thornborough
Captain Merry and Vice Captain Barry have just announced the team to face Thornborough tomorrow. Match starts at 2:00pm and is up at Astrop Park.
Following four straight wins in the league, MCCCA find themselves in second place and only a win tomorrow will do to keep them there. An extra incentive to win, should be the fact that close third place side Silverstone are away to Gayton, where a home win is almost 100% going to happen. However, it is not going to easy tomorrow as Thornborough proved tough opposition on the opening day of the season and some of the boys who played in that game, are still scratching their heads as to why they have not won a game all season.
Team selection has been tough again as key players are missing however, key players are available to come back in to the side to cover. Missing tomorrow are openers Springall and Thompson, both are having a well earned rest in a sunny climate far, far away. Collingwood Wylie is also missing due to a prior engagement with the dogs down at Wimbledon and so is Condom who is away at a family wedding.
Into the team becomes noisy skipper Merry who has been away for the last couple of weeks. David Farmer also returns and his batting and bowling will be crucial this weekend. A name on the team sheet which has not been around since way back in the season is Kevin 'the bullet' Coles (pictured). Kevin has waited patiently for a recall and now its happened, I am sure he will take it with open arms and try to hang on to it.
The team for tomorrow is as follows:
Merry, Hook, Ell, Parker, Fisher, Davies, Farmer, S Twynham, J Nadin, Coles, Baseley (fitness permiting).
You will have noticed that a certain Beefy is back in contention following last weeks HORRIFIC incident at work. Beefy has recovered well following 2 broken legs and has got himself back fit and ready to go within the space of 6 days (Doctors these days are brilliant!!!).
Its a massive game for MCCCA, with Gawcott and Silverstone (currently second and third) the next two fixtures for Cheney, it is important nothing less than 20 points are picked up against lowley Thornborough. Turn out in your thousands (or just Pezza) and cheer the boys on to victory.

MCCC A take second spot with a brilliant victory at Northampton
MCCA traveled to Northampton yesterday to take on Grange park. With Farmer and Merry already missing, more bad news was to come when Beefy had to pull out at the last minute.
MCCA lost the toss and was put in to bat and this proved to be costly as some 1st teamers who had been drafted in to the Northampton side steamed down and was getting alot of pace and height of the very slippery artifical wicket. However, the opening pairing of Springall and Thompson saw out the opening attack, although scoring slowly. When the first wicket fell (Thompson 13), Cheney found themselves on 47. More excellent batting took the score to 131 off the restricted 39 overs.
With Farmer and Beefy missing (Cheneys 2 opening bowlers), Cheney were dealt a further blow when Springall got injured, meaning he was unable to bowl with his usual run up.
However, excellent bowling and fielding had the home side on 68-8 but yet again Cheney struggled to get the next wicket out and when they finally did, the home side found themselves on 120-9. With 12 runs off the final two overs, the home side got to 130 with only two balls remaining. Enter CD (pictured), Josh bowled a full toss and the batsman hit a low drive which CD somehow managed to get hold of which then set off a mass celebration by the boys.
Basically the Cheney boys had snatched a victory from under the noses of the Northampton team in their own back yard. It is a fantatsic performance and just goes to show how far this team has come.

Farmer picks up June player of the month
All rounder David Farmer (pictured) picked up the player of month award for June. Farmer has been on fine form not just with the bat but also with the ball.
Farmers average have shot up to 44 with some impressive not out innings and he has taken important wickets at very important times, including a 5 wicket haul against division 4 side Chippy Warden.
Farmer was not available for yesterdays game so could not pick up the 'bails' but he will be presented with these prior to next weeks home game against Thornborough.
Farmer had this to say to the website " I'm chuffed to bits".

Beefy is out for the season
MCCC A have just received the terrible news that fans favorite 'Beefy' will not be playing for MCCC A again this season following a freak accident at work yesterday.
It is understood that a large number of roof tiles fell off the roof straight on to Beefs leg which has resulted him being put in cast this morning (see picture). The club doctor said this to the website " Its not good for the poor bloke, not only has he lost a shite loads of stuff this season but now he finds himself sidelined for a long time. We x rayed him this morning however the swelling is that bad we cannot diagnose what the actual problem is, but it does look like a fracture to the leg"
So a blow for players, officials and fans of MCCC A and we all wish him the best in his recovery.
"We are not giving Beefy any crutches though" replied the club doctor " we hardly have enough and he is bound to lose them if we did provide him with some".
Please send your get well wishes to and the webmaster will make sure Beefy gets them.
Get well soon Beefy.

Beefy is ruled out of todays match at Northampton
MCCC A have just received news that opening bowler Paul Baseley (pictured) (Beefy) is up A&E following an incident at work earlier this morning.
The website have not officially been informed what has happened however rumours are that he was found stuck between the toilet and the wall with his pants around his ankles and a 'adult; magazine in his hand !!!.
This means vice captain Barry has had to call on Conner Devaux to replace Beefy.
The website would like to wish Beefy a speedy recovery. Fingers crossed he is available for tonights drink session.

Report on the pitch for tomorrows game
Our very own Cat Wylie has just visited the ground for tomorrows ground and can confirm that the pitch is currently fit to play on.
The fact that the wicket is artifical (as pictured), does help however, heavy rain is due and the outfield is always bound to cause a problem. The Cat advised that the boundries are very short and that there are alot of rabbit poo's on the wicket.
More worryingly, there appears to be no pavillian which in turn, means there are no changing facilities or showers !!!!. Fingers crossed this is not the case as the boys need to look your best for the town trip.
Fingers crossed the weather holds off. Updates will appear on the website in the morning.
Thank you Cat!

The team is selected for tomorrows game at Northampton
Captain Merry has just selected the team for tomorrows trip to Northampton and there is a recall for Richard Fisher (Pictured) following his chop last weekend.
Merry had this to say to the website " Its great we have so many players wanting to play for the club however, its a nightmare for me trying to pick 11 every week as I will always have to upset some people. With key players missing over the next couple of weeks, its important that the team all stick together and pick up the points needed to keep us up near the top. Farmer is missing for personal reasons and I have decided to leave myself out so in comes Steve Twynham from the 1st team and Richard Fisher. The rest of the team stays the same as last week".
The team for tomorrow in no particular order:
Hook, Thompson, Springall, Davies, S Twynham, Nadin, Wylie, Parker, Ell, Baseley, Fisher
Players are asked to meet at the ground for 12:45pm and are reminded that it is an artifical wicket at Northampton, so no spikes are to be worn.
Weather permitting, we wish the boys selected all the best for tomorrow game.
